You scramble up onto the stone.
>wait 60
[I assume you mean 60 minutes.]
Time passes...
The sky is getting brighter. Soon it will be dawn.
Do you want to continue waiting? >y
The deep black sky to the east begins to soften to a rich
blue, which in turn becomes tinged with pink...
Soon, the massive stones are silhouetted against a sky stained
with red...
Yellow streaks begin to dance across the sky overhead, playing
with the clouds and lighting up the area around you...
Finally, the yellow edge of the sun itself appears over the
horizon, and the first blinding shaft of sunlight shoots
precisely between the mighty trilithons and strikes you full
upon your face...
Sunrise on the morning of the summer solstice is complete, and
once again the ancient stones have stood mute witness to the
precision of the hidden cycles of the universe.
An old man steps out from behind one of the trilithons and says
, "Greetings, stranger. It is good to see that there are still
those who study the old knowledge."

>Ask about knowledge
The old man looks off into the distance, as if recalling a
time long ago. "Once there were many of us studying the sun and
the moon," he says. "But then the cultists came and made a
religion of it. Those of us who sought knowledge were driven
out by those who sought power." The old man's eyes brighten
again as his thoughts return to the present. "But if you know
the secret of the sun stone, then you must also know about the
great eclipse that will take place today on the other side of
the ocean. I know not if the people there study the sun, but if
they do not, when darkness comes at one hour after midday they
will probably fall to the ground in fright as did our
ancestors." He shakes his head sadly. "It is terrible how true
knowledge can be driven out by superstitious nonsense. Thus has
it always been, and I imagine thus it will always be."

One hundred fifty years after the Normans landed in nearby
Hastings, Britain has become a model feudal society. From serf
to knight to baron to king, each man knows his place in the
system. But now the fabric of this society is threatening to
rip apart as King John is demanding more money from his barons
and they are refusing to pay.

He sticks his tongue between his teeth and starts scratching at

Suddenly, the courier rides out of the forest and into the

before John and says, "A thousand pardons for the delay, sire.
I was attacked by outlaws in the forest. They made off with my
purse, but of my more precious cargo, they knew nothing." He
takes the pouch out of his cloak and hands it to the king. The
monarch opens the pouch, takes out the letter and hands it to
his cleric, commanding "Read it to me!"

The cleric begins to read the letter. As he does so, John's
face gets redder and redder with anger. Finally he shouts,
"Enough!" He strides over to the table where the parchment lies
and scrawls a mark upon it. Then he tears off his bracelet and
flings it to the ground saying, "You have my kingdom, you may
as well have my jewelry too." He mounts his horse, whips its
head around, and rides off towards Windsor. The courier
retreats in shame back into the forest, while barons look at
each other in stunned silence and then break out into a loud
cheer.

Under the keyboard, a technician has scrawled on a piece of t
ape, "To go to a new timeplace, type 'timeset,' followed by the
name of the city and the year that you want to go to. Eg.
Timeset Rome 44."

You hear a low humming that slowly crescendos into a
full-fledged roar. The interkron begins to shake and you become
disoriented. You fall to the floor and pass out...
When you awaken and struggle to your feet, you realize that
you have travelled to Mexico, in the year 800.

Temple
The warlike Toltecs have destroyed the city of Teotihuacan and
replaced it with their own city of Tula, which lies to the
north of the lake. The island remains sacred, however, and
construction of this Pyramid of the Sun is nearly complete.
You are in a sanctuary deep inside the great temple of the
sun. The air here seems to shimmer.
There is a mural on the wall here that shows the sun-god
disguised as a man escaping from a cannibal pot. Next to it is
another mural that shows Indian armies defeating the armies of
all nations that come against them. A darkened exit leads off
to the east.

Closet
You are in what appears to be a closet in the heart of the
pyramid. The only light in the room comes from a small window
set well out of reach in the wall over your head. It looks as
if someone has left a costume here.
